Nike Elite Notes
The Kentucky Wildcats prepare for their 99th year of basketball with their first exhibition game of the season against Nike Elite. It’s the first of two exhibition games this week — UK returns Sunday vs. Athletes in Action at 2 p.m. — before officially opening the season against Western Kentucky in the NABC Classic in Rupp Arena, Nov. 15.
This game marks the first action in Rupp Arena for three of Kentucky’s four newcomers. Adam Chiles, who may or may not play due to a possible redshirt season, helped Ballard to the Sweet 16 Championship in the facility in 1999. Josh Carrier, Rashaad Carruth and Chuck Hayes make their Rupp Arena debuts.
It is, however, the first time the Kentucky Wildcats will play on Rupp’s new floor. The impressive new surface has been used only for the True Champions benefit game Aug. 11.
