LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky swimming team will close out its fall schedule this week at the 16th-annual Nike Cup in Chapel Hill, N.C., beginning Thursday, Nov. 15 at North Carolina’s Maurice J. Kourny Natatorium.

The UK men are led by sophomore Joey Faltraco who set the school record in the 100 (50.15) and 200 (1:47.17) backstrokes in the Cats’ last meet against Louisville. The women have been paced by freshman Chrissy Miller who holds the season’s best times in the 50 (24.60), 100 (52.15) and 1,000 (10:15.86) freestyles.

This will be the eighth time in the past nine years that the Wildcats will participate in the championship format event. The UK women won the event during the 1997-98 season while the UK men???sup>TMs third-place finish that same year was their best in the event.

Joining the Wildcats and Tar Heels this weekend will be Duke, East Carolina, Kenyon, LSU, Syracuse and Virginia Tech.Sessions on Thursday, Friday and Saturday begin with preliminaries each day at 10 a.m. and finals each night at 6 p.m.

The UK divers will not participate in the Nike Cup as they will travel to Bloomington, Ind., for the Indiana Invitational Friday, Nov. 16 to Sunday, Nov. 18.
