The 35 points scored by Kentucky were the most scored by the Cats against Tennessee since a 56-0 win in 1893.
It was the second straight game UK totaled over 500 offensive yards. The Wildcats had 583 yards against Vanderbilt last week and 543 yards against the Vols.
Kentucky’s fourth-down defensive stand in the second quarter marked the first time this season UK had four consecutive stops without allowing a first down.
Entering the game, UT ranked No. 1 in the SEC and No. 8 in the nation in total defense, allowing 275.4 yards per game. The Wildcats had totaled 279 yards at halftime, before finishing with 543 yards for the game.
The Wildcats entered the fourth quarter with a 28-21 lead. It was just the second time this season that UT had trailed entering the final quarter. Alabama held a 24-21 advantage before the Vols rallied to victory.
Jared Lorenzen finished 34 of 53 for 406 yards and four TDs. He also tied for team-high rushing honors with 52 yards on 13 carries.
His 1-yard TD plunge in the second quarter was his second of the season and the seventh of his career.
His 406 yards passing marked his second consecutive game he topped 400 yards and fourth consecutive game topping 300 yards. He has three 400-yard games in his career and 12 300-yard games.
His four TD passes marked the second straight game with four or more TD passes.
Champ Kelly’s 62-yard TD reception in the fourth quarter was his longest career reception as well as his first career TD.
Dennis Johnson combined with Chris Demaree to sack Casey Clausen in the first quarter. The half-sack allowed Johnson to set the school record for sacks in a season with 11. He had previously shared the record with Chris Ward (1996).
Tommy Cook’s first-quarter TD reception was his third of the season. His previous two were against Vanderbilt last week.
Derek Abney became the 14th player in school history to reach 1,000 yards receiving. He finished the day with 10 catches for 118 yards, giving him 678 receiving yards this season.
His 118 yards receiving marked his third straight 100-yard game.
