Lexington, KY – The Kentucky women’s basketball team returns home after a three-game road tilt to play host to the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. in Memorial Coliseum. The game is billed as Women in Sports Day. The UK gymnastics, tennis, softball and swimming teams will sign autographs and play interactive games on the concourse level beginning at 6 p.m.

UK looks to get back on the winning track after falling to No. 24 North Carolina on Wednesday. Freshman center Keiko Tate came off the bench to score a team- and career-high 13 points against the Tar Heels. Sophomore center SeSe Helm continues to lead the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 17.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while junior guard Rita Adams follows with 14.5 ppg. Adams leads the SEC in steals, averaging 4.5 a game.

“It nice to be back home before we head out on another three-game road trip,” UK Coach Bernadette Mattox said. “Miami is a good team and they are a quick team. We have to limit our turnovers and make better decisions than we have in our last two games.”

Miami visits the Bluegrass State for the first time since 1989. The Hurricanes, 3-1, are also coming off a road loss (76-68) to South Florida on Tuesday. Miami’s three wins were over Iona, Northwestern and IUPUI.

Guard Shelia James and center Martha Bodley lead the Canes in scoring, averaging 10.5 and 9.3 points per game, respectively. Bodley also is the team’s leading rebounder with 8.3 boards per game. Coach Fern Labati is in her 14th year at the helm of the Hurricanes.

The Cats are 4-1 all-time against Miami, including a 2-0 record when playing at home. Last season, the teams met in Coral Gables, Fla., with the Canes taking a 74-59 win.
