The 11th-ranked University of Kentucky women’s tennis team (9-1) will begin Southeastern Conference play this weekend, Mar. 1-3, when they battle ninth-ranked Tennessee and top-ranked Georgia. The Cats will take on both SEC rivals in the friendly confines of Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center on the UK campus.

The Volunteers (9-3) will travel to Lexington on Friday, Mar. 1 to face the Wildcats in a rematch of last year’s closely-contested, 4-3 Tennessee victory. The match is slated to begin at 4 p.m. UK will then take a day off before matching up with Georgia (9-0) on Sunday, Mar. 3 in hopes of handing the Bulldogs their first loss of the season.

“We are playing at an extremely high level at this point in the season.” Coach Mark Guilbeau said. “This weekend presents some huge opportunities for us and if we continue to improve and stay focused this team will certainly reach all of the goals they have set for themselves.”

The Wildcats are still carrying confidence after upsetting No. 10 North Carolina, 5-2, last weekend.
