The University of Kentucky track and field squad wrapped up competition at the Stanford Invitational with several fine performances on Saturday, March 30. Junior Janet Crawford took home second place in the women’s high jump with a leap of 5-08.50, while sophomore Beth Heimann took home fourth-place honors in the women’s 800 meters with a time of 2:06.67.

Junior Simidele Adeagbo finished fifth in the women’s triple jump with a mark of 40-07.50, while Molly Lonergan was fifth in the women’s discus with a toss of 163-08.00. Also performing in field events was freshman Aisha Smith, who finished 13th in the women’s hammer throw with a mark of 163-07.00. Freshman Gennessa Guzman took third place in her hammer sectional with a throw of 172-09.00. She was also 12th in her discus sectional (137-08.00).

In men’s action, sophomore James Doaty took seventh place in the 800 meters with a time of 1:50.11, while Paul Ciurlys was 11th (1:50.71). Jack Morgan performed well in the men’s 1500 meters with a time of 3:49.68. Senior Bryan Wilson finished sixth in the 110-meter hurdle finals with a mark of 14.46. Sophomore Jeff Chakouian followed his first-place finish in the shot put on Friday with a fourth-place showing in the discus on Saturday (171-02.00).

The track teams return to action on Saturday, April 6, when they travel to Knoxville, Tenn., for a Southeastern Conference Quad Meet.
