The University of Kentucky women’s golf team opened action in the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate on Monday, Nov. 4, at the Oak Point Golf Course in Kiawah Island, S.C. Kentucky shot an opening round score of 310 and a 155 in the first nine holes of the second round to stand in eighth-place with a 465. Leading the tournament is Kansas State with a 440, while host College of Charleston stands in 13th-place with a 484.
Senior Rachel Lester leads the Lady Kats and the individual field with a first round three-under-par 69 and a second round beginning of 35 to stand in first-place with a 104. Kansas State’s Christine Boucher closely follows in second-place with a 105.
Kentucky junior Eva Gessner opens the tournament in a tie at 27th-place with a total score of 116. Senior Kelly Anders and junior transfer Maggie Gabelman, in her first appearance as a Lady Kat, finished with a 123 in 58th-place. Sophomore Stacy Springer tallied a 126 for Kentucky and stands in 69th-place.
The final nine holes of the second round and the third round will begin on Tuesday, Nov. 5 with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
