Kentucky football coach Guy Morriss has resigned his position in order to accept another coaching job, UK Director of Athletics Mitch Barnhart announced Monday night.

“I’m very appreciative of the contributions of Coach Morriss, his staff, and family, in laying the foundation for the rebuilding of Kentucky football,” said Mitch Barnhart, UK Director of Athletics. “We wish them the best as they take the next step in their lives and careers.”

Morriss was assistant head coach and offensive line coach for Kentucky from 1997-2000. He was named head coach in Feb. 2001. He had a 9-14 record in two seasons as head coach of the Wildcats, including 2-9 in 2001 and 7-5 in 2002.
