The Southeastern Conference announced the newest members of its Spring Academic Honor Roll, and four Kentucky women’s golfers were named to the list. Towa Okiyama and Kristen Pepe, who completed their intercollegiate eligibility in the spring of 2002, were named to the honor roll, as were senior Rachel Lester and junior Eva Gessner. The members of the honor roll were selected based on grades accumulated during the 2001-02 academic year.
In addition to their success in the classroom, Lester and Gessner made significant contributions to the Wildcats’ success on the golf course. Lester was the only Wildcat to finish in the top 50 of each tournament this season, and Gessner, who dropped her stroke average by five strokes from her previous career average, chipped in one of four top-10 individual finishes on the season for Kentucky.
