The University of Kentucky soccer programs will play host to their 11th-annual summer of boys and girls soccer camps from June through August. Women’s head coach Warren Lipka, the camp director, and head men’s coach Ian Collins, the camp coordinator, will host six weeks of individual and team training designed to help players better understand all aspects of the game of soccer.
Wildcat day camp sessions will bookend the summer. The two separate sessions will occur June 9-13 and July 28-August 1. Half- and full-day options are available, with all day camps begin at 8 a.m. Half-day campers are dismissed at Noon, while full-day campers stay until 4 p.m. Wildcat day camps are geared toward younger players and allows them to learn the fundamentals of soccer in a fun environment.
Two weeks of residential camps will be offered from June 15-26. Residential camps provide a competitive tournament atmosphere for players between the ages of 10-18. Campers will be immersed in technical and functional training designed to challenge players of all levels and abilities.
High school team camp, July 10-13, is devised to help teams prepare for the fall by improving each individual, technically and tactically, but also to assist in developing and integrating each individual into a certain system of play. Each team will be assigned a UK staff coach to aid in the evaluation and monitoring process.
This year’s camp schedule also includes an elite camp. The session, scheduled for July 18-20, is an intensive, accelerated camp for the advanced player and/or team. Ages 13-18 will train in an atmosphere that mirrors a collegiate pre-season program.
Coach Lipka, the current U-19 US Women’s Goalkeeper Coach and former adidas Goalkeeper of the Year, also will offer specialized goalkeeper training during all camp sessions. Goalkeepers will enjoy a blend of specialized training in goalkeeping fundamentals and tactics mixed with the game experience that league competition provides.
