The University of Kentucky women’s golf program has added Jenny Throgmorton as an assistant coach, head coach Stephanie Martin Barker announced today. Throgmorton joins the staff after serving as head coach of the Transylvania women’s golf program for the past two seasons.

“Jenny is a wonderful addition to our golf program,” Barker said. “With her extensive playing background, former coaching experience, and her true love for the game of golf, Jenny exemplifies the kind of coach we were looking for to join our staff at UK.”

During her first season as head coach of the Pioneers, Throgmorton led Transy to a No. 23 national ranking in the NAIA and a No. 16 rank in the NCAA Division III polls. While under her lead, Throgmorton’s team claimed four team tournament victories and five individual titles. Also under her guidance, the Pioneers qualified for the NAIA National Championship in Palm Coast, Fla., where one of her golfers earned NAIA runner-up honors while the team finished in 16th place.

A 2001 graduate of the University of Kentucky, Throgmorton was a four-year member of the UK women’s golf team, serving as team captain in 2000. During her collegiate career, Throgmorton recorded one top-10 and three top-20 finishes while playing in 40 out of 44 tournaments for the Cats. Throgmorton was also a member of the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll from 1999-2001 and was inducted into the Frank G. Ham Society of Character in 2000.

A native of Paducah, Ky., Throgmorton won the 1996 Kentucky High School State Championship, the 1997 Women’s State Amateur Championship and was named Ms. Kentucky Golf in 1995. A three-time member of the Kentucky Girls’ All-State team, her first professional tournament was the 2002 Kentucky Women’s Open, where she recorded an eighth place finish.
