Game-Day Honorees: The following people will be honored at the Murray State game.
At the end of the first quarter, UK President Lee T. Todd Jr., First Lady Patsy Todd, and Provost Mike Nietzel will recognize the Provost’s Awards for Outstanding Teaching. Each year, four tenured faculty and three teaching assistants are chosen for this honor. This year’s faculty winners include Jurek Jaromczyk of the College of Engineering, Carl Lee of the College of Arts and Sciences, Buck Ryan of the College of Communications and Information Studies, and Immaculada Pertusa of the College of Arts and Sciences. This year’s teaching assistant winners are Walter Bower, Tammy Marvin Werner, and Bryan Pearce-Gonzales of the College of Arts and Sciences.
At halftime, UK will honor Tom, Julius, and Howard Fister of Scott County, Ky. The Fisters’ grain bin is part in the “UK Barnstorming” plan, in which one farm building in each Commonwealth county will have the new “Go Big Blue” logo painted on it. Ideally, each farm building will be located near an interstate or major highway so that as many people as possible will be able to view the building.
United Way Campaign Kickoff is Saturday: The United Way of the Bluegrass is the official charity of the University of Kentucky and the annual UK United Way campaign will kickoff Saturday at the Murray State game.
