LEXINGTON, Ky.– Kentucky (4-3-1) looks to end a three game skid when it battles Appalachian State (3-5-1) Friday, Oct. 3 at the UK Soccer Complex at 5 p.m. On Sunday, the Cats travel open play in the Mid-American Conference when it travels to Bowling Green, Ohio to face the BGSU Falcons (2-4-2).

Appalachian State comes into the UK Soccer Complex with a 3-5-1 record on the season. The Mountaineers were shutout in their last match against Southern Conference foe, Georgia Southern, 2-0.

Bowling Green State is 2-4-2 on the season, including a 0-1-0 Mid-American Conference record. The Falcons are led by sophomore Paul Seip who has two goals and three assists on the season. BGSU was picked to finish third in the MAC in a preseason coaches poll.

The Cats struggled at the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash., this past weekend. UK fell to No. 22 Washington 2-1 in its first game. Kentucky got off to a slow start in the game and relinquished two early goals to the Huskies before battling back in the final minute with a goal of its own by junior Olli Lehtimaki. On Sunday, Kentucky and Portland played to a 1-1 tie in regulation. The Pilots scored the “golden goal” in the fifth minute of overtime to secure the 2-1 victory over the Cats.

The Last Time …

… on the field – Kentucky lost its third consecutive game this season against Portland, 2-1, in overtime.

… at home – UK played host to the UK Invitational and faltered in its second game of the tournament against Butler, 1-0. The loss was Kentucky’s first of the season after starting 4-0-1 through its first five games.

… against Appalachian State – The Cats fell to Appalachian State, 2-1, in 1998 at the Greensboro Classic. The Mountaineers hold a 1-0-0 advantage over UK in the all-time series.

… against Bowling Green – Bowling Green defeated Kentucky, 2-1, in the quarterfinals of last season’s MAC tournament. The all-time series record for UK and BGSU is tied 7-7-1.

Additional Notes

Friday Night is Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night. All Faculty and Staff get in free and their guests get in for $1.00 each. All Faculty and Staff can sign-up for a chance to compete in the dizzy bat goal contest during halftime to win a prize.
