The UK women’s golf team sits in fourth place at the Wildcat Fall Invitational after one roundat the University Club of Kentucky. The Cats, who are playing host to the 18-team tournament, shot a 317 on its home course and are currently eight shots back from leader Mississippi State.

With winds gusting above 20 mph consistently throughout the day, UK freshman Marissa Muir led all golfers after one round with an astounding one-over 73 on the first 18 holes. Natalie Booth from MSU came in one shot behind Muir, and four players are trailing the lead by two shots.

Senior Eva Gessner, who took sixth in the event last year, is in a tie for 24th after shooting an 81 while fellow Cat Erin Faulkner sits in a tie for 32nd with an 82. Stacy Springer and Maggie Gabelman, who are competing as individuals in the tournament, are tied for 49th with a first-round 84.
