Final Stats

The Kentucky women’s golf team remains in fourth place after two rounds of the Wildcat Fall Invitational at the University Club of Kentucky. Marissa Muir shot four-over par on day two to stay tied for the lead of the 18-team tournament, and Mississippi State and Vanderbilt are currently tied for the top team spot going into the final round Sunday.

Muir birdied two holes on the front nine, but a double-bogey on hole 12 left the freshman with a 76 on the day. Meghan Little of Louisville shot a one-over 73 on Saturday to take a share of the lead and Amelie Farrah of North Carolina Wilmington sits one shot back with a two-day total of 150.

UK’s team score of 630 puts the Cats two shots out of third and just seven shots back from the lead. Several Cats also made strides on the day, as senior Eva Gessner improved her first round 81 with a 77, tying her for 17th, and Katie Dixon and Erin Faulkner also stayed within striking distance with 23rd and 34th place finishes, respectively.

“The team is doing very well,” Coach Stephanie Martin Barker said. “The course is playing rough, but obviously they are doing their best. The wind has been tricky both days, but I feel they’ve played solid in both rounds. Hopefully, we can have an even better round tomorrow.”

Brenda McLarnon from the College of Charleston had the best round of the day, as she birdied three holes en route to a three-under 69. Livia Jakobsson, despite finishing with an eight-over 80, provided the best shot of the day with a hole-in-one on the par-3 eighth hole.

The three-day tournament wraps up tomorrow with the culminating final round. The teams will tee-off with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Complete results will be available at www.ukathletics.com.
