UK’s Tigran Martirosyan capped off a spectacular five-day run through the ITA All-American pre-qualifier and qualifier rounds Wednesday in Chattanooga, Tenn. with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over No. 99 Vlad Obradovic of Florida. Martirosyan’s seventh-consecutive win in Chattanooga earns him an at-large berth in the 2003 Icy Hot/ITA All-American Championships, one of three singles national championship events conducted during the 2003-04 collegiate tennis season. The four-day ITA All-American event begins Thursday in Chattanooga.

Martirosyan earned his at-large berth by breezing through six matches in a five-day span. The junior dropped only one set in 13 sets of competition. Martirosyan joins UK junior Jesse Witten in the ITA All-American field and will take on No. 73 Scott Brown of Vanderbilt on Thursday.

Witten earned his spot in the ITA All-American field by way of his No. 9 national ranking. Witten also will play Thursday, though his opponent has yet to be determined.

Junior Evan Austin fell just short in his bid for the ITA All-American main draw. No. 61 Stephen Mitchell of Alabama got the best of Austin with a tough 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-4 decision.
