Cats knock off Louisville, Houston

LEXINGTON — The University of Kentucky men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams each claimed victories Friday evening at UK’s Lancaster Aquatic Center. The Kentucky men breezed by Louisville, 103-66, while the UK women took a 124-110 victory over Houston and a 141-60 win over U of L. The Kentucky women won eight events overall while the Kentucky men captured 11 events.

Jessica Siegele claimed wins in the 50-yard freestyle and 200-yard backstroke events and Brennan Moore captured victories in the 1000-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle events. Jessica Thompson also took the one-meter diving event.

On the men’s side, Daniel Cruz added victories in the 200-yard individual medley and 500-yard freestyle events to his credit. Freshman Eric Weber turned in a solid first-place performance in the 1000-yard freestyle and sophomore Daniel Farnham took the 200-yard freestyle event.

The Cats return to action on Nov. 20 when the UK swimmers head to the Nike Cup in Chapel Hill, N.C. and the UK divers journey to Bloomington, Ind. for the IU Diving Invitational.
