Chris Austin and Olli Lehtimaki are standouts on the field and in the classroom.

CLEVELAND — Senior Chris Austin and junior Olli Lehtimaki were named to the 2003 Academic All-MAC Team by the league office, Thursday, for their accomplishments in the classroom.

Austin, a journalism major from Marietta, Ga., received his third consecutive academic honor from the league and holds a 3.759 cumulative GPA at Kentucky. The senior defensive captain was also named to the 2003 Academic All-District IV University Division Men’s Soccer Team, last week.

Lehtimaki, an economics major from Hameenlinna, Finland, has a 3.866 cumulative GPA and has recorded three goals and one assist on the season.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for student-athletes who have excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
