Wildcats Travel to The Plains, Kentucky Meets Auburn on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET
AUBURN, Ala. – The University of Kentucky women’s basketball program will play Auburn on Thursday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. ET at Neville Arena in Auburn, Alabama.
The game will be broadcast on SEC Network, with Roy Philpott and Carolyn Peck on the call. Big Blue Nation also can listen in to the play-by-play on UK Sports Network and / or 630 AM WLAP (locally), with the Voice of the Wildcats, Darren Headrick on the mic.
The Wildcats are 9-15 this season, including 2-8 in the Southeastern Conference. The Cats are still on the hunt for their first road win in 2023-24, owning a 0-7 record in road games. Kentucky lost a heartbreaker to Georgia in its last road game on Feb. 4, despite holding a 15-point lead against the Bulldogs in the first half.
UK’s leading scorers include Ajae Petty (14.6) and Maddie Scherr (13.4), while two others are close to averaging double digits on the season in Eniya Russell (9.6) and Saniah Tyler (9.6). In fact, over the last six games, Russell has been putting up 13.7 points per game, including a back-to-back, 20-plus point games. Thanks to her efforts and some others, UK has averaged 28.2 points off the bench over the last five games.
Petty, a Baltimore, Maryland, native, who is second in the league in field-goal percentage (53.4) and third in the league in rebounds (252), also is leading UK in rebounds, with 10.5 on the season. She is one of just four players in the SEC to have at least 12 double-doubles in 2023-24.
Kentucky and Auburn are tied, 27-27, in the all-time series, which began in 1980. UK leads AU, 12-11, in game played on The Plains.
Auburn is 15-8 this season, including 4-6 in the league and 11-3 at home. Auburn recently snapped a two-game losing streak with a win at Missouri, 70-59, last Sunday. In that game, Honesty Scott-Grayson scored a game-high 25 points, while JaMya Mingo-Young earned a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Scott-Grayson is the lone Tiger averaging double-digit scoring, but she is putting up 17.7 points per game, which ranks fifth in the SEC. For the most part, the Tigers rebound by committee, though they’re led by Taylen Collins’ 6.4 per game.
