David Freeman topped off a successful weekend for the Kentucky track and field team with his first-place finish in the 1,500 meters at the John McDonnell Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. The Cats took three of the top-five spots in the event, led by Freeman?s regional qualifying mark of 3:48.16.
Thomas Morgan and Hunter Spencer also had impressive performances Saturday, as they followed Freeman with second and fifth-place performances, respectively. Morgan crossed the finish line in 3:48.65, while Spencer secured his top-five finish with his time of 3:50.52.
The Cats also wrapped up competition at the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tenn., Saturday with the women?s 4 x 400-meter relay. The squad, comprised of Takia Brooks, Jackie Gordon, Kendra Patton and Olubusola Adeagbo, posted a season-best time in the event with their 11th-place time of 3:43.68.
Both teams return to action next weekend at the Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, Calif., and the LSU Alumni Gold meet in Baton Rouge, La.
