Kentucky freshman diver Kari Retrum parlayed a solid dual-meet season and a terrific post-season showing into a Southeastern Conference Women?s Freshman Diver of the Year selection, the conference announced Tuesday.
Retrum, a Noblesville, Ind., native, won the SEC Women?s Platform Diving title in Athens, Ga., just over two months ago. She also placed 13th in the three-meter event and 15th in the one-meter event at the SEC Championships. Retrum took third at the NCAA Zone B Diving Meet in March.
Retrum placed second in the three meter and third on the one-meter diving events at the 17-competitor Indiana Invitational in November. She won the three-meter event at Auburn and added three top-three finishes during the dual-meet season.
