Lexington, (Ky.) ? Kentucky will look to sweep its two-game season series with the intrastate rival Louisville Cardinals when the two teams square off at Cliff Hagan Stadium on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. The game is part of UK?s ?Website Wednesdays,? meaning that anyone who prints the coupon off www.ukathletics.com, can gain admission to the contest for $1. Assistant men’s basketball coach and former standout player at the University of Kentucky, Reggie Hanson, is scheduled to throw out the game’s ceremonial first pitch.
The Wildcats beat the Cardinals, 5-1, in Louisville back on April 14. Six Kentucky pitchers combined to hold Louisville to just one run on eight hits for the game. Louisville native Spencer Graeter was 3-for-4 for the Cats and was joined by Justin Scutchfield, who posted the same numbers and scored twice.
Kentucky leads the all-time series with the Cardinals, 54-29-1. Last year the two teams split a home-and-home series, with UK winning, 9-5, in Lexington and U of L taking a 7-5 decision in Louisville. The Wildcats had taken three in a row from the Cards prior to that.
Live stats of Wednesday?s contest will be available at www.ukathletics.com. UK will move on to play host to perennial national power and current No. 5 LSU. The Tigers and Cats will tangle in a three-game Southeastern Conference series, starting with a 6:30 p.m. (ET) contest on Friday night.
