The first day of the 2004 NCAA Outdoor Track Championships was almost completely rained out as storms and driving rain covered the Austin, Texas area Wednesday. While the women’s heptathlon was completed, all other events were postponed.

Six Kentucky athletes were scheduled to compete Wednesday, including Ildiko Varga in the discus, Beth Heimann and Brooke Patterson in the women’s 800 meters, Jean Balan and Kris Landers in the men’s 800 meters and Thomas Morgan in the 5000 meters.
