A pair of former Wildcat divers fell just shy in their bid for coveted spots on the U.S. Olympic team.

Clayton Moss, a former 11-time All-American and two-time NCAA runner-up, placed fourth in the three-meter springboard event, while former UK All-American Aaron Kirkpatrick placed ninth at the U.S. Olympic Trials over the weekend in St. Peters, Mo. In the men?s three-meter synchro event, Moss, along with diver Justin Wilcock, took third with a score of 594.90. Kirkpatrick, paired with diver Thomas Davidson, placed fifth with a score of 557.91. The top-two finishers in each event earned nominations to the U.S. Olympic team. Members of the Kentucky men?s and women?s swimming squads completed a successful weekend at the 20th Annual UltraSwim event in Charlotte, N.C.

Junior Daniel Cruz took first in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 54.62 after shaving nearly a second off of his preliminary round time. Cruz went on to take second in the 200-meter butterfly in 2:01.03.

Sophomore Daniel Farnham turned in a productive weekend in Charlotte, as well. The Mt. Berry, Ga., native took second in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 51.67. Cruz took 14th in the event and was followed by junior Tim Patrick and Clay Gasparovich in 21st and 22nd places, respectively. Farnham also placed 10th in the 50-meter freestyle event, clocking a time of 23.51. Patrick took 11th place, Gasparovich placed 14th and Cruz took 24th place. Farnham added a 21st-place showing in the 100-meter backstroke.

Sophomore Shantel Commander took seventh in the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:38.03.
