The University of Kentucky volleyball team recently began pre-season training for the 2004 season, which begins in just over two weeks. The freshman class, which presents seven new faces, reported to campus on Sunday, Aug. 8. The entire team, which includes eight returning players, had their first official practice on Wednesday, Aug. 11.

The squad will practice intensely until the annual Blue/White Scrimmage on Sunday, Aug. 22 at 3 p.m. The team will revert to a traditional practice schedule when classes resume on Wednesday, Aug. 25.

The 2004 co-captains, Amy Kaplan and Leigh Marcum, will lead the squad into the season opener, Wednesday, Sept. 1 when Eastern Kentucky visits UK?s Memorial Coliseum for a 7 p.m. match.
