Senior Emily Foster and sophomore Joelle Schwenk each claimed a pair of doubles victories and one singles win apiece Saturday afternoon at the Florida Fall Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.
Schwenk, a Coconut Creek, Fla., native, upset Miami?s 91st-ranked Staci Stevens by a 6-4, 6-3 count. Foster turned in her second singles victory in as many days, defeating Florida State?s Natalie Tirapelli, 6-3, 6-0.
Emily Foster teamed up with her sister, Sarah, for a 9-7 doubles win over Florida State?s Miranda Foley and Tapiwa Marobela. Emily Foster later teamed up with Schwenk for an easy 8-1 victory over FSU?s Alina Mihailescu and Yana Stoeva.
Sophomores Liis Sober and Caroline Winebrenner each will play in the finals of their respective singles brackets at the St. Mary?s Fall Tennis Classic in Knoxville, Tenn. Sober defeated Furman?s Bonnie Baird by a 6-4, 6-4 count, while Winebrenner scored a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Furman?s Lisa Bornt-Davis. Sober and Winebrenner picked up their second doubles victory in two days before falling in their flight final.
