LEXINGTON ? Senior Jamal Shteiwi and junior Brandon Stewart have each been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Great Lakes Region team.
Shteiwi was named to the Great Lakes first team. The team captain, he led Kentucky to an 11-5-3 record and the Mid-American Conference championship. He had 11 goals and eight assists en route to being named the MAC Player of the Year.
His career finished, Shteiwi ranks among the top three in Wildcat history in points, goals, assists, shots and game-winning goals.
Stewart earned third-team honors after anchoring a defense that did not allow an opponent to score more than one goal in the final 17 games of the season. He also tallied three goals, all of which were game winners.
His biggest score of the year came in the second half at UAB, when he buried a header to upset the No. 17 Blazers.
