FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.? The University of Kentucky track and field squads were led by freshman Liliane Sparkes? standout performance in the unseeded women?s mile run. Sparkes claimed top honors by crossing the finish line in a career-high time of 4:55.46 at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.

Junior Chris Millisor and freshman Justin Harrison also took home medalist honors in the recording career-bests and third-place finishes for the Cats in unseeded heats of the meet. Millisor recorded a time of 8:33.56 in the men?s 3,000 meters, while Harrison marked a 400-meter time of 47.17 to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Championships. Freshman Michael Mason captured fourth with a leap of 7-01 ? in the men?s high jump, while senior Beth Heimann also claimed fourth in a time of 2:10.76 in the women?s 800-meter run.

For the men, freshman Dan Hutson recorded a career-high in the men?s unseeded 800-meter run in a time of 1:51.07, while freshman counterpart Jeremy Johnson notched a career-best time of 21.91 in the men?s 200-meter run. Maysville, Ky. native, Andy Fryman marked a career-high in the weight throw with a heave of 58-01 3/4, while freshman Chris Payne recorded a career-high jump of 6-04 in the high jump. Nate Browning also recorded a career-high in the men?s unseeded 400-meter dash with a time of 47.96.

On the women?s side sophomore Jackie Gordon recorded a season-high mark of 57.31 in the women?s unseeded 400-meter dash.

Kentucky takes a week off and hosts the UK High School Invitational on Feb. 19 in Nutter Field House. The Cats then travel back to Fayetteville, Ark., for the SEC Indoor Championships Feb. 25-27.
