LEXINGTON ? Kentucky soccer standout Jamal Shteiwi was taken with by the Cleveland Force with the fourth overall selection in the Major Indoor Soccer League draft Tuesday.
Shteiwi, a Cincinnati, Ohio, native, is a two-time Mid-American Conference Player of the Year and garnered second-team All-America honors in his senior season. This past year, he led Kentucky to its fourth conference championship in five seasons.
Shteiwi led the conference during the regular season in shots (55), shots per game (3.06), points (30), points per game (1.67), goals (11), goals per game (0.61), game-winning goals (3) and finished tied for first in assists (8).
One of the most decorated players in Kentucky history, Shteiwi wrapped up his career ranked second in school annals in points (71), tied for third in goals (23), second in game-winning goals (9), first in assists (25) and second in shots (151).
A finance major, Shteiwi earned Academic All-MAC and CoSIDA Academic All-Region honors his senior season.
