No. 3 Kentucky completed its 12th sweep of doubles play on the season and dominated singles play on its way to a 6-1 victory over No. 57 Arkansas Sunday at UK?s Boone Indoor Tennis Center. The Cats extend their best-ever start in conference play to 6-0, while UK?s win streak stretches to 11 matches.
Sophomores Kim Coventry and Joelle Schwenk dealt Maryori Franco and Allie Linden an 8-2 defeat at the second doubles position before Sarah Foster and Aibika Kalsarieva clinched the point with an 8-3 win at the first spot. Emily Foster and Lara Maurer added an 8-4 win at the third doubles position.
After Arkansas (10-6, 0-6) evened the tally at one with a victory at the fourth singles position, UK seized control of the match with five straight-set singles victories. Coventry picked up her 11th straight singles victory and improved to 6-0 in SEC play with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Iliana Pacheco. Sarah Foster stretched the Wildcat lead to 3-1 with a 6-3, 6-4 win over 80th-ranked Maryori Franco. Kalsarieva clinched the match by defeating the Lady ?Backs? Vlatka Jovanovic in straight sets, extending her unbeaten streak to 13 matches. Maurer and Danielle Petrisko closed out the match with straight-set wins at the Nos. 5 and 6 spots, respectively.
Kentucky (17-3, 6-0) hits the road next week for matches at Auburn and Alabama.
