Two UK track and field athletes recorded regional qualifying marks to open the 2005 outdoor season, and the team looks to continue that success this weekend.
Five-time All-American and five-time SEC Champion, Jeff Chakouian continued his successful outdoor track and field career when he took top honors, recording a regional provisional qualifying heave of 65-06 ? in the shot put, at the Baldy Castillo Invitational. His toss was almost four feet more than his nearest competitor and stands as the number one shot put throw in the conference, besting the conference field by ten feet. In that same meet junior Kenya Patton also recorded a regional qualifying and personal-best time of 23.96 in the women?s 200-meter dash.
