LEXINGTON ? The Kentucky baseball team returns to action Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Cliff Hagan Stadium when it welcomes Marshall to town.

The game will be the first of the week for the Wildcats, who had a game scheduled Tuesday, but it was cancelled due to inclement weather. Kentucky dropped two of three to No. 29 Mississippi State over the weekend to run their record to 20-19 on the year.

The Wildcats were on the verge of winning the series on Sunday after freshman starter Andrew Albers turned in a stellar pitching performance by keeping the Bulldogs scoreless into the seventh. However, the Bulldogs rallied in the ninth with three runs for a 3-2 victory.

Meanwhile, Marshall split two games this past weekend with Virginia Tech. Sunday?s rubber match was rained out. The Thundering Herd are 13-21 on the year.

Kentucky is expected to start either freshman right-hander Alex Jordan (1-3, 7.90) or junior right-hander Matt Robinson (1-0, 8.44) on the mound. Jordan has started a mid-week game for Kentucky each of the past four weeks. Marshall will counter with freshman right-hander Brian Knippelmeyer (2-5, 7-14).

This is the third straight year the teams have met after a three-year hiatus in the series. Kentucky has won 24 of 34 meetings with the Thundering Herd, including 22 of the 27 since 1981. This will be the eighth straight time the two teams have met in Lexington.
