LEXINGTON, Ky. ? Five spring tournaments and the University of Kentucky Wildcat Fall Invitational highlight the 2005-06 UK women?s golf schedule, fifth-year head coach Stephanie Barker announced Monday.

?We?re very excited about this year?s schedule,? Barker said. ?We added another tournament this season and are scheduled to play in more two-day events, which fits our team very well. It?s a tough schedule, but I feel like we have a good shot to really be competitive.?

The Wildcats open the season Sept. 12-13 in Charleston, S.C., as they participate in the Cougar Classic before returning home to host the Wildcat Fall Invite Oct. 1-2 at the University Club?s Big Blue Course. Kentucky also will compete in the University of North Carolina?s Lady Tar Heel Invite and the Embassy Suites/Tyson Arkansas Invite hosted by the University of Arkansas to close out the fall slate.

The Cats open spring action Feb. 19, as they travel to Miami, to compete in the Papa John?s Collegiate Invitational. They will participate in a trio of tournaments in March, including the University of Florida?s Sun Trust Lady Gator Invitational on March 11-12. UK ends its 2006 spring schedule at the John Kirk/Lady Panther Invite in Atlanta.

The 2005-06 Southeastern Conference Championships are being hosted by Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn., April 14-16.
