FORT WAYNE, Ind. ? The Kentucky men?s soccer team led most of the game before Michigan State scored a late goal to force a 1-1 draw on Friday night in exhibition play at the IPFW/adidas Classic.

Having reported to campus on Monday, the Wildcats had just three days of training to prepare for the contest against the defending Big Ten Tournament Champions and 2004 NCAA Tournament participant.

?It was a very productive preseason game,? UK head coach Ian Collins said. ?We played 20 players and everyone did very well. We?ve only had two or three days to train and we did some things tonight we can build on. Overall, I?m very happy tonight.?

Senior Thomas Senecal (Bethesda, Md./The Maret School) gave Kentucky the lead in the 19th minute when he beat goalkeeper Jason Tillman off a corner kick. Sophomore Michael D?Agostino (Langley, British Columbia/Langley Secondary) served the ball into the box and where Senecal headed it past goalkeeper Jason Tillman.

A year ago, Senecal netted four goals as a junior en route to first-team All-Mid-American Conference honors.

Kentucky carried the lead into the intermission and seemed to be in control most of the second half. However, the Spartans got the equalizer in the 87th minute when Louis Stevens snuck one past reserve UK goalkeeper Matt Troop (Peachtree City, Ga./Starr?s Mill). Starting goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley North) was lifted after 65 minutes of action .

Kentucky returns to action on Aug. 27 at 7:30 p.m. when it hosts Oakland at the UK Soccer Complex in an exhibition match. The Wildcat?s regular season opens on Sept. 2 at 7:30 at home against in-state rival Louisville.
