The Kentucky Swimming & Diving team hosts Tennessee on Saturday in the team?s first Southeastern Conference meet of the season at the Lancaster Aquatic Center.
The Wildcats are looking for their first-ever victory against Tennessee. Last year?s meet on the men?s side was not decided until the final event. UT?s 400- freestyle relay team defeated UK by 0.12 seconds to give the Vols a 123-120 victory.
Both the men and women?s teams are poised for victory coming off last weekend?s action. The women defeated Illinois last Friday in their opening meet of the year, 179-119. Senior Brennan Moore and freshman Kelly Rames led Kentucky with two victories apiece.
On Saturday, both the men and the women competed in the annual Kentucky Relays where the men and women combined to win 24 out of 25 events.
?We are really excited with this being our first SEC meet of the year,? head coach Gary Conelly said. ?Both the men and the women have a real good chance to win their meets. We are going to need some special efforts from our performers. This will be a great test physically and mentally for us.?
The meet will begin at noon on Sat. with the 1-meter diving event. Fans can check ukathletics.com for a complete recap of the meet?s action.
