UPCOMING RACE – The Cats will travel to Columbia, S.C. for the SEC Championships, Sat., Oct. 29. The meet will be held at Fort Jackson Military Base, the largest and most active Initial Entry Training Center in the United States Army. The fort encompasses more than 52,000 acres of land. The men’s race begins at 9:30 a.m. with the women following at 10:30.

WOMEN?S RACE – The women will cover a 6K course. The meet will feature three team ranked in the top 30. Arkansas tops the rankings at No. 17, followed by defending SEC champ Tennessee (17th) and Georgia (28th). After a sixth-place finish at the Penn State Nationals, the Cats jumped into the regional rankings, ranking sixth in the Southeast. Senior Allison Grace enters the race ranked among the SEC top 10 in 6K times (21:17, Penn State Nationals) and 12th for 5K (17:40). Last year, Grace placed seventh (21:09) en route to earning All-SEC honors for the second consecutive year. Junior Emily King finished second for the Cats in 30th. As a squad, UK finished eighth.

MEN?S RACE – The men?s race will be 8K in distance. Three men?s teams from the SEC are ranked in the top 30, including No. 1 Arkansas who will be looking for its 15th consecutive SEC title. No. 8 Florida and No. 20 Alabama round out the rankings, followed by Tennessee who is receiving votes. Last season, Kentucky placed eighth on the strength of junior John Richardson?s 31st-place finish (24:44) and sophomore Andre Silva (44th).
