The Kentucky swimming and diving team was swept Friday by Georgia at the Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga.
The UK men (2-2, 0-2 SEC) fell 190-117, while the women (3-3, 1-2 SEC) lost to the top-ranked Lady Bulldogs 162-130.
In defeat, both the women and the men had several strong performances.
The Cats? lady divers once again dominated the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. In the 1-meter, senior Jessica Thompson claimed victory for the third time this year. Juniors Joey Brown and Taryn Ignacio finished second and third respectively for UK.
In the 3-meter dive, defending SEC champion Ignacio finished first. Kari Retrum, Jillian Becker, and Thompson finished second, third and fourth respectively behind Ignacio.
The women also received winning swimming performances from sophomore Jenny Bradford who captured the 50 freestyle event and senior Shantel Commander who won the 200 breaststroke event for third time this season.
On the men?s side, UK continued to get strong swims from seniors Daniel Farnham and Steven Manley. The returning All-America Farnham once again won the 50 and 100 freestyle events. Farnham has taken home the 50 and 100 freestyle events in three meets this year.
Manley, a native Dublin, Ireland, also won two events against the Bulldogs finishing first in the 200 IM and 200 freestyle.
The Cats will return to the pool on Saturday in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and will take on both LSU and Alabama at 1 pm. EST.
