Lexington, Ky. –The No. 29 Kentucky men?s tennis team returns to the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center on Wednesday for a doubleheader against Indiana State and Murray State. The match against the Sycamores is slated to begin at 1 p.m. EST with the contest vs. the Racers to follow at 6 p.m. EST.
The Cats (7-3, 2-0 SEC) are coming off a successful opening weekend of Southeastern Conference competition. UK traveled to both No. 56 Auburn and No. 50 Alabama and walked away with a pair of victories.
Senior Alex Hume led the Cats in singles competition clinching both matches against the Tigers and the Crimson Tide. The Alexandria, Va., native extended his career-best winning streak to 11 matches with three wins last week. UK also received three victories a piece last week from freshman Bruno Agostinelli and sophomore Marcus Sundh. The 63rd-ranked Agostinelli is one victory away from tying his season-best winning streak of seven set earlier this year.
Indiana State enters Wednesday?s match with a 5-6 record. The Sycamores, from the Missouri Valley Conference, have dropped their previous two matches this year against ranked opponents (No. 37 Western Michigan and No. 58 Ball State).
Murray State comes to Lexington with a 1-3 record. Last season the Cats blanked the Racers 7-0 at the Boone Tennis Center. Kentucky holds a 12-2 all-time record against its intrastate rival.
