WALLACE, N.C. ? Sophomore Kentucky golfer Beth Felts (Chattanooga, Tenn.) fired a 2-over-par 146 (71-75) Monday to lead the Wildcats, who currently are in sixth place after two rounds of the Lady Seahawk Invitational hosted by the University of North Carolina-Wilmington. As a team, the Wildcats carded a two-round total of 611 (305-306) on the first day of the two-day tournament, which is being played at the River Landing Golf Club.
Felts is currently tied for second place in the individual standings after firing her second-lowest round of the season and her lowest mark this season in spring competition on the event?s opening 18 holes.
Western Carolina leads the tournament field after firing a two-round total of 600 (308-292), while Atlantic Coast Conference member Maryland is second with a 603 (308-295). Birmingham Southern?s Emily Klein leads the individual field with a 1-over-par 145 (71-74), while UNC-Wilmington?s Michelle Jarman is tied with Felts for second place at 2-over.
Senior Ali Kicklighter (DeLand, Fla.), who has led the Wildcats in three of their previous eight tournaments this season, is tied for 15th place with a 152 (77-75). Senior Erin Faulkner (Bowling Green, Ky.) and junior Katie Johnson (Lexington, Ky.) are tied for 33rd place each with two-round marks of 157.
Sophomore Elizabeth Dotson (White Bluff, Tenn.) is tied for 50th place with a 161 (83-78) to round out the tournament field for the Wildcats. Competing as an individual, junior Marissa Muir (Tucson, Ariz.) is tied for 46th place with a 160 (85-75).
The Wildcats conclude play in the Lady Seahawk Invitational Tuesday with the final 18 holes of the event beginning at 9:30 a.m. EST with a shotgun start. Complete results and a recap from the final day of the tournament will be available on ukathletics.com.
