The University of Kentucky soccer teams will host three 3v3 Micro-Soccer Shootout camps in the month of May, as well as several additional camps throughout the upcoming summer months. The trio of 3v3 camps are set for May 6, May 13 and May 20 at the UK Soccer Complex.
The camp is open to both boys and girls. The boys U6 camp is from 8-9 a.m., while the boys U8 camp runs from 9-10 a.m. Boys U10 camp will be held from 10-11 a.m. The girls U6 camp is set to begin at 11 a.m., followed by the girls U8 camp at noon. Girls U10 camp will be held from 1-2 p.m. Each session starts out with a 15 minute teaching clinic and demonstration with the UK coaching staff.
Participants should bring a soccer ball, shin guards, soccer shoes and sneakers/indoor shoes. All the games will be played at the UK Soccer Complex.
The 3v3 Micro-Soccer Game is a faced paced game of non-stop action that requires everyone?s involvement. A team is comprised of eight players, but only three play on the field at one time with games lasting 40 minutes (20 minute halves). This game is a great developmental tool, as it requires each player to be a major contributor to their team. We hope you come and enjoy a fun-filled camp with a chance to learn and improve your skills.
The soccer programs will also host a pair of Day Camps for boys and girls ages 6-12. The first camp will be held June 5-9, while the second is set for July 24-28. The cost is $135 for a half-day (8 a.m.-Noon) and $275 for a full day (8 a.m.-4 p.m.). Lunch is included for full day campers.
The Day Camp is geared for the younger player looking to develop their skills at any level. The Wildcat Day Camp brings together the idea of having fun and learning the different technical and tactical aspects of soccer. We will help you develop as a player in many aspects of the game, including passing/receiving, finishing, heading, small-sided and full-sided games. The full Day Camp will include added summer activities along with additional soccer training. We invite you to join us this summer for a fun and challenging week of soccer.
UK will also offer an Overnight Camp, June 18-22, for boys and girls ages 10-16. All of our training sessions are created to challenge soccer players of all ages, levels and abilities. The morning technical training sessions are designed to train particular skills through repetition in different situations and levels of pressure, such as dribbling, passing and receiving, and finishing. The afternoon tactical sessions are designed to increase the application of the skills learned in the morning session in varying decision-making environments in areas of the field and under certain conditions. Nightly 11v11 matches allow each camper to display the newly acquired skills in game conditions.
An Elite Camp will be offered for boys and girls ages 13-18 on June 15-17 and again on July 14-16. This is a great program for those interested in playing college soccer. The Elite Program is one of the most advanced, challenging and competitive programs we offer. We welcome all players who want to be challenged and look to improve their game.
The Wildcats will also host a Striker/Goalkeeper Camp from June 23-25 for boys and girls ages 13-18. At this camp, players will have an extensive daily training schedule. For the goalkeeper, training sessions will concentrate on all aspects of goalkeeping including shot stopping, crosses, 1v1 play, distribution and building attacks. Sessions are taped and reviewed by the staff and campers together and lectures are conducted to help the goalkeeper prepare for games.
For the strikers, we will focus on all areas of attacking play including possession in the final third to build attacks, different types of finishes (driven, bent, faded, chipped, etc.), crossing to create more goal scoring opportunities and also positioning in the box.
The final camp of the summer will be the Team Camp which is scheduled for July 10-13 and is open to boys and girls ages 13-18. We welcome all types of teams comprised of 12 or more players to our camps. One coach may attend free and receive a Nike coach?s package. Teams are housed together, train together and compete in our Camp League which features matches every night.
We aso offer specialized goalkeeper training at all of our camps. We believe goalkeepers develop best with a blend of specialized training in goalkeeping fundamentals and also through the game experience and tactical demands our league competition provides.
?We look forward to having players from all over the country at our camps this spring and summer,? said head coach Warren Lipka. ?We have record numbers of players registered for our camps already and we?re excited to bring these young athletes to our campus.?
