LEXINGTON, Ky.? Kentucky men?s tennis coach Dennis Emery named Matthew Emery as a volunteer assistant coach he announced Tuesday.

Matthew Emery is a 2006 graduate of Kentucky with a degree in communications. He was a four-year letter winner for the men?s tennis team, and played as high as No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles for the Wildcats. Over the course of his five-year career with the blue and white, Emery compiled a 65-76 singles record and a 37-52 doubles record.

?One of the great things about being at Kentucky is that my former players want to come back and continue to be involved with the team,? said Dennis Emery. ?Matthew is going to be a great addition to the coaching staff.?

Before coming to college, Emery was a state high school champion at Lexington Christian Academy in 2001. He was ranked as high as 15th in the world in Boys? Junior Singles and 18th in doubles.

Matthew Emery will begin his new assignment at UK on August 20th.
