LEXINGTON ? The 20th-ranked Kentucky men?s soccer team looks to match the school record for longest unbeaten streak to start a season when it welcomes Georgetown College to the UK Soccer Complex on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The Wildcats are 3-0-1 and can tie the 1995 and 2003 teams for the longest undefeated stretch to open a year with a win or tie in the contest. Three years ago, UK opened 4-0-1 en route to a second-round finish in the NCAA Tournament. The 1995 squad started 5-0 and eventually set the school record with 16 victories.

Wednesday?s game also presents a potential milestone victory for UK head coach Ian Collins. In his 16th season as a head coach, Collins can claim his 150th career win. Of his 149 victories thus far, 138 have come at Kentucky.

Kentucky has proven to be a formidable foe early on this season, averaging 2.13 goals per game and scoring three goals in two contests. The offense has been paced by senior Riley O?Neill, who already has five goals and an assist. He has a goal or an assist in every game this year.

This past week, sophomore Masumi Turnbull and freshman Mark Halma also stepped offensively. Turnbull found the back of the net twice while Halma had a goal and an assist. Halma also had a goal waved off on a controversial foul call against Louisville.

Defensively UK has been its usual stingy self, pitching two shutouts thus far. Dating back to last season, the Wildcats have not allowed more than one goal in eight straight games. Freshman goalkeeper Dan Williams has a miniscule 0.46 goals-against average this year.

Last season, in the fifth installment between the teams, Kentucky scored a 4-0 victory. Overall, UK holds a 5-0 advantage in the series while scoring 21 goals and allowing just two.
