The University of Kentucky men?s golf team returns to action this week, Oct. 2-4, in Williamsburg, Va., where they will play in the PING Preview. The three-round tournament will be played at the par-70 Colonial Williamsburg?s Golden Horseshoe Golf Club, which will also host this spring?s NCAA Championships.

The 15-team field for the Preview consists of Arizona State, BYU, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Lamar, Minnesota, UNLV, defending national champion Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Wake Forest and Washington, as well as host school Virginia Commonwealth.

?The Preview starts a stretch of four consecutive events for our team,? said head coach Brian Craig. ?Our play at home has been very solid and I think we are ready for the challenge of perhaps the best collegiate event of the fall season.

Senior Andrew Stephens, junior Brad Doster, sophomore Andy Winings and freshmen Alex Volpenhein and Brian Belden will represent the Wildcats this weekend in Williamsburg. Stephens will see his first tournament action since the 2004-05 season, while Belden will make his collegiate debut. Doster, Winings and Volpenhein all played in the Topy Cup last month, Sept. 5-7, in Tanagura, Japan, where the Wildcats turned in a second-place finish.

?After a three week break, the team is ready to compete and see how we measure up against the top teams in the nation,? added Craig. ?We may be a little inexperienced in terms of college golf, but these guys have talent and confidence and I believe they are capable of having a special year.?

UK is slated to tee off the opening round beginning at 8:20 a.m. and is paired with Wake Forest and VCU.
