Freshman defensive linemen Jamil Paris and Corey Peters will miss the next three-to-four weeks but will not have surgery on their medial collateral ligament (knee) injuries sustained in last Saturday?s win over Central Michigan, Coach Rich Brooks announced Tuesday.

In addition, Brooks announced that redshirt freshman tight end Tyler Sexton would have surgery and would be out an indefinite period of time after also sustaining an MCL injury.

Paris has played in all five games as a reserve defensive end, making two tackles. Peters has played in every game as a reserve defensive tackle and contributed eight stops, including one tackle for loss, plus a pass breakup. Sexton has seen action in four games on special teams and as a reserve tight end.

Brooks also noted that junior defensive tackle Ricky Abren was doubtful for the South Carolina game because of the wrist injury he incurred vs. Central Michigan. If Abren is unable to go, the Wildcats will have just three defensive tackles who have seen action at that position this season, Lamar Mills, Myron Pryor, and Ventrell Jenkins.
