Senior defensive end Durrell White and sophomore punter Tim Masthay have been named game captains for Saturday?s game vs. South Carolina, Coach Rich Brooks has announced.
Game captains are normally selected based on performance in the previous game. White (Middlesboro, Ky.) made two tackles in last Saturday?s win over Central Michigan. Masthay (Murray, Ky.) punted for a 40.8-yard average, helped hold CMU to zero punt return yards with his placement and hangtime, and added two touchbacks on his kickoffs. White and Masthay will join permanent captains Lamar Mills and Keenan Burton for the pregame coin toss.
Scout Team Players of the Week: Kentucky?s Scout Team Players of the Week in preparation for the Central Michigan game were redshirt freshman tight end Ross Bogue (Suwanee, Ga.), redshirt freshman defensive tackle Austin Moss (Hopkinsville, Ky.), and junior safety Martin McPherson (Somerset, Ky.) for special teams.
Be True, Wear Blue: ?Be True, Wear Blue!? is the theme for Saturday?s football game against the visiting South Carolina Gamecocks.
In anticipation of the national telecast on ESPN2, UK Athletics encourages fans to turn Commonwealth Stadium into a sea of blue by wearing their blue UK apparel. Dawahare?s stores will be selling ?Be True, Wear Blue? T-shirts in support of the effort.
Saturday?s game is slated for 7 p.m. as the Wildcats seek to extend their three-game home win streak. It is only the eighth time in Commonwealth Stadium history (constructed 1973) that the Wildcats have gotten off to a 3-0 start on their home schedule. UK is seeking a fourth-straight home win for the first time since 1987.
