The University of Kentucky men?s golf team returns to action this weekend, Oct. 7-8, as it travels to Zionsville, Ind., for the Wolf Run Intercollegiate. The two-day event will feature 36 holes on Saturday, Oct. 7, and 18 holes on Sunday, Oct. 8.
The event will be contested at the Wolf Run Golf Club which is currently ranked the 20th-best course in the country according to Golfweek?s America?s 100 Best Modern Courses. Indiana, Georgia Southern, Missouri, Xavier, Louisville, Central Florida, Arkansas, Michigan and Memphis make up the 10-team field.
The Wildcats will send the same five players this weekend as Alex Volpenhein, Brad Doster, Andy Winings, Andrew Stephens and Brian Belden will compete. Sophomore Ben Fuqua will also make the trip and play as an individual.
?We need to bounce back with a better performance at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate,? said head coach Brian Craig. ?This will be one of the best courses we play all year and should allow the better teams to rise to the top. We are due to have a better effort from the team as a whole. The guys are confident and playing well. We just need to play our games and stay patient on the course and good things will come our way.?
UK will be paired with host-team Indiana in the opening round and is set to tee off at 8:30 a.m.
