The University of Kentucky men?s golf team leads the 10-team field at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate in Zionsville, Ind. The Wildcats (581) shot an opening round 292, followed by a second-round 289 to lead second-place Louisville (584) by three strokes after two rounds of play.
Georgia Southern is third with a two-round tally of 591 (299-292), while UCF is fourth at 594 (299-295). Xavier (299-296) and Arkansas (296-299) are tied for fifth with identical scores of 595. Host-team Indiana is tied for seventh with Michigan at 599, while Memphis is two strokes back at 601 for ninth place. Missouri holds 10th place with a two-round score of 602 (298-304).
Sophomore Andy Winings leads the way for the Wildcats and is tied for third overall after firing a first-round 70 and an even par 71 in round two to bring his total to 141. Junior Brad Doster is tied for eighth after two rounds with a score of 145 (73-72). Senior Andrew Stephens is tied for 13th after carding a 147 (75-72) through two rounds of play, followed by freshman Brian Belden who fired a pair of 74s to stand at 148 (74-74) with 18 holes remaining. Freshman Alex Volpenhein rounds out the scoring for UK with a score of 156 (75-81).
The two-day tournament wraps up on Sunday, Oct. 8, with the final 18 holes.
