Men's Golf

The University of Kentucky men?s golf team returns to action this weekend, Oct. 22-24, at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational. The prestigious three-day event at the par-72 Isleworth Golf & Country Club in Windermere, Fla., marks the end of the Wildcats? fall season.

The Wildcats finished 10th at this tournament last season. Junior Brad Doster returns to the Kentucky lineup this weekend after suffering a wrist injury forcing him to withdraw from last week?s competition. Senior Andrew Stephens, sophomore Andy Winings and freshmen Derek Oldham and Alex Volpenhein make up the rest of the Wildcat lineup.

The 18-team field consists of 2005 tournament champion Georgia, Arizona, Clemson, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, North Carolina, Oklahoma State, South Carolina, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Tennessee, host-team UCF and Wake Forest.

All 18 teams finished inside the Top 50 of the 2006 Golfweek/Sagarin final rankings, including five of the top 10 teams. Nine of the teams were also among the top 15 finishers at the NCAA Championship in June.

?We have a great opportunity to bounce back and prove our worth at the Isleworth Intercollegiate,? said head coach Brian Craig. ?This is a tremendous event and perhaps the best field in the fall season. I am anxious to see how we respond.”
