LEXINGTON, Ky. ? The University of Kentucky men?s golf team jumped 10 spots today, Oct. 23, with a second-round team score of 290 (+2) to bring its two-day total to 590 (300-290) at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational in Orlando, Fla.
The Wildcats are now in fifth place and 12 strokes behind Texas (579) who took over the team lead after firing a three-under par 285 on the second day of play at Isleworth Golf and Country Club. Oklahoma State is second at 580, followed by Florida (586) and Clemson (588) who are third and fourth, respectively.
Florida?s Toby Ragland continues to lead the individual standings with a four-under par total of 140 (69-71).
Junior Brad Doster carded seven birdies to fire a second-round 68 and climbed into the top 10. The Winter Park, Fla., native was four-under par on the day and is now tied for ninth overall with a total score of 145 (77-68). Sophomore Andy Winings shot a two-over par 74 and is now tied with Doster for ninth place overall with a score of 145 (71-74).
Freshman Alex Volpenhein had three birdies on the second day of play and is now tied for 22nd overall with a score of 147 (75-72). Fellow freshman Derek Oldham shot a four-over par 76 to stand at 153 (77-76) through the first 36 holes, while senior Andrew Stephens finished with a total of 158 (78-80) to round out the scoring for Kentucky.
The third and final round will be played on Tuesday, Oct. 24, with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.
