LEXINGTON, Ky. ? The Kentucky rifle team put the finishing touches on another solid weekend, out-shooting national power West Virginia to remain undefeated, Sunday at Barker Hall.

?I thought the team had an alright performance today,? head coach Harry Mullins said. ?I feel that we are really ready to start putting up some higher numbers. We have been hanging around in the 4645-4650 mark now for a while and we are going to have to work at getting through the barriers of the 4660 marks.?

The Wildcats continued their hot shooting this season, again led by freshmen Jen Pason and Thomas Csenge. Pason captured the air-rifle title with a 589 and finished second in smallbore with a 582. Csenge took the individual title in smallbore tallying a 582, in addition to a 582 in air rifle. Senior captain Amy Sowash added a fourth-place 582 in air rifle and Ray Geyer posted a second-place 582 in air.

?We have had some good opportunities to shoot some really good numbers,? Mullins said. ?Now we just have to get to the point where we are using these opportunities and putting up good numbers on the board. Jen [Pason] had a good weekend breaking 1170?s in the combined score for both matches Friday and Sunday. I was very proud of the entire team this weekend, they worked very hard both days. From the top all the way down everybody gave 100-percent and that is all you can ask for as a coach.?

UK will return to action Thursday when it faces defending NCAA Champion Alaska-Fairbanks.

?Alaska is coming to town this Thursday and they are still the NCAA defending champions so that will present a major problem because they are a very solid team with great talent and experience,? Mullins concluded.
